An irrigation engineer’s service visit can be a great way to ensure that your irrigation system is running properly and efficiently. During a start up visit, the engineer will:
• Start-up the system and check for any repairs that need to be made to pipes, fittings, valves, drip line, sprinklers etc.
• Check the pump is operating correctly
• Test all stations
• Program the controller to ensure that your irrigation system is watering your plants at the right times and for the correct period of time.

In addition to these tasks, the irrigation engineer may also:
• Make recommendations for repairs or upgrades
• Answer any questions you have about your irrigation system

Our offices will be closed for our Christmas shutdown form Friday 23rd December and reopening on Tuesday 3rd January. We wish all our customers and suppliers a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

TCR’s Service engineers have been kept busy over the past month draining down irrigation systems, for the winter months.

We recommend drain downs to the majority of our clients as it helps to reduce frost damage, which is caused by water sitting in the pipes, valuable fittings and components over winter.

We will be contacting those same clients from the end of February onwards to arrange the start ups, so that they are ready for the spring/summer.

The days are now drawing shorter and the temperature is slowly dropping. The season for irrigation is coming to a close with many of our clients now booking in for a drain down to protect it from the cold winter conditions. Our drain downs include a full inspection of a running system to note any possible repairs required during the spring start-up, along with the draining of the system including the tank. We recommend drain downs to the majority of our clients as it helps to reduce frost damage, which is caused by water sitting in the pipes over winter.

We will be contacting those same clients from the end of February onwards to arrange the start ups, so that they are ready for the spring/summer.

Our service engineers were called out to a contacted communal garden in central London this week to repair the system which had been reported to not be functioning correctly. This was all the more urgent due to the mini heat wave being experienced across the UK, with the lawns and flower bed bearing the brunt of the heat. Upon investigation, our engineer discovered there to be an issue with the rain sensor not linking to the controller along with damaged sprinkler bodies which could be easily replaced. Our engineer reset the runtimes of the system and increased the watering schedule to combat the intense heat and dry spell being experienced.

TCR’s Service engineers have been kept busy over the past couple of months starting up irrigation systems and carrying out repairs for the warmer days ahead. Our engineers have a wealth of knowledge and are equipped to carry out repairs on any watering system whether installed by the homeowners or another irrigation company.

If the controller is the brain of an irrigation system then the pump is the heart. Our service engineer has been put through his paces today replacing a pump at one of our residential clients property. A new controller led Lowara 5SC-04 pump was installed to account for the expanded irrigation system. Our engineer tested the pump was running efficiently, ensuring each station is at the optimum pressure.

This week on of our service engineers was out visiting a customer in Hampton to start up and carry out repairs to their irrigation system in preparation for the warm spring/ summer days ahead. The system was comprised of 4 stations to the turf, planting beds and green house. Repairs were made to drip line located in the planting beds due to an incident involving flower bulbs and a shovel. The system was checked thoroughly checked over ensuring all the garden sprinklers where positioned correctly in addition to the micro sprays located in the greenhouse.

Steve Haire, who has re-joined TCR as a Service Engineer, holds a wealth of experience spanning over many years, specialising in servicing irrigation systems.

Our design department have had a record number of enquiries, which is leading to plenty of work in the New Year.  Out contracts team will be kept busy right up until Christmas and into the New Year and our service department will be starting to schedule in Start ups, weather dependent, in early March.

Summer has drawn to a close, thus making way for the damp and cold months ahead. You may have programmed your garden irrigation systems to stop over the winter period, however its prudent to carryout a full drain down.

We will be contacting those same clients from the end of February onwards to arrange the start ups, so that they are ready for the spring/summer.

The irrigation season may be drawing to a close in the coming moths however that’s not stopping us adding the finishing touches to our customer’s irrigation systems.
This week we visited a customer in Ascot to install a Hunter Rain-CLIK sensor to their irrigation system which enables them to prevent water waste when the weather takes a turn for the worse. Most rain-sensors work by accumulating a set amount of rainfall before a switch is activated thereby shutting off the system, in the time it take for the sensor to detect a sufficient amount of water to shut the system off, the irrigation system will unnecessarily continue to water. The Hunter Rain-CLIK has built in quick response technology that instantly shuts down the irrigation system as soon as it starts raining or if the temperature drops to 3 degrees, thus reducing unnecessary waste water and preventing frost damage to pipes.

This week our engineers were out in Cranleigh assisting a customer with their recently installed Hunter HC controller. The Hunter HC controller is part of the Hydrawise range which allows the user to control their garden watering system using a smart device or via the web-browser. From this the user is able to use predictive watering which adjusts the watering schedule based upon forecast temperature, rainfall probability, wind and humidity to provide maximum water savings while keeping plants healthy. Our engineer gave a step-by-step guide on the running of the system using the Hydrawise software via the customers smart phone, allowing them to have full control of their irrigation system from anywhere.

TCR are delighted to announce we have a new member of the design team based in the Cheshire office. The new appointment comes just in time for our busiest time of the year with an ever increasing demand for new installs.

Our design and service departments have never been busier with enquiries flooding in from current and potential clients. With this in mind we are now recruiting for an Irrigation Foreman and an Irrigation Engineer, therefore enabling us to satisfy the increasing demand from the Chiltern hills area and surrounding towns, including Henley-on-Thames, Buckingham and Marlow.

With the hope that we are going to have a lovely summer, the start ups are now in full swing and our service engineers are being kept busy. It looks like it’s going to be another busy year for TCR!

A training day is to take place early in the new year for Office Staff at TCR.

This will be with a supplier’s representative on the all Hunter updated products.

TCR Watering have been recruiting over the past month and are happy to welcome a new member John, to the office team, in January 2021.

His role will be office administrator, along with assisting and supporting the design department.

The final drain down carried out for the winter on a large irrigation system in Penn, Surrey. The drain downs have been a little later this year, due to the mild weather.

Steve Craft, who has joined TCR as Internal Technical Advisor and Service Engineer. With a wealth of experience spanning over many years.

Freddie Zorzan, who is a qualified electrician and Service Engineer, who specialises in pumps, variable speed drives and control systems.

Both Steve and Freddie will be valuable members of TCR and have quickly slotted in with the team, we hope to have a long and happy association.

All departments are currently working flat out. We are receiving an unprecedented amount of inquiries for design and installation. Despite the pandemic, our service department is busier than ever, with new inquiries coming in daily.

All clients happy for our engineer’s to attend, once they have received the instructions implemented to keep both client and engineers safe.

The unprecedented weather in April and Covid-19 has made this time of the year even busier than usual. Our service engineers are busy starting up irrigation systems for the season and carrying out any repairs that have been caused by frost or vermin over the winter period. We recommend that all systems are drained down for the winter, to reduce frost damage particularly.

TCR are delighted to welcome Matt Hough as our new Operations Manager.

Matt comes from a Landscaping background and brings a wealth of relevant experience to TCR. Matt will run the service department along with numerous other duties related to Operations management.

He will be a valuable member of the team.

We are pleased to welcome Pete McCabe to TCR in 2019. Pete is an experienced Irrigation Engineer and we are delighted to welcome him to the TCR’s Southern team!

Due to the expansion of TCR, we are looking to recruit an experienced Irrigation Service Engineer who is trained in single and three phase electrics, to be based in Cheshire.

2018 Saw the introduction of the next generation nozzle design from Rain Bird, a welcome addition for garden watering systems!

The Rain Bird R-VAN rotary nozzles save more water and are easier to use than traditional spray head nozzles of similar performance, with its hand-adjustable arc and radius. They have anything from a 4m to 7.5m radius. The thick streams and large water droplets cut through the wind to deliver water where you want it.

TCR are currently recruiting Irrigation Engineers and have a number of new members of staff joining us. We have a full works diary, so it’s full steam ahead and we are looking forward to a busy 2019!

TCR are currently designing two nine-hole golf courses in the South of England.
The first 9-hole golf course is part of a residential home. The design also includes the gardens around the dwelling and surrounding areas.
The second 9-hole golf course is part of an upgrade to an existing system.
TCR can provide quotes for all types of Golf Courses from small residential greens, right through to 18-hole courses.

Already one month into 2019. This month we will be contacting our clients to see if they wish to take up TCR’s Annual Service Contract. The contracts ensure that all contract holders get priority on call outs throughout the year, which is a great advantage, particularly if we have a glorious summer like we did last year. Already we are inundated with inquiries for designs and installations, so that gardens do not suffer if there is a repeat of last years weather.

TCR Watering are currently recruiting for a Designer/Estimator to join our enthusiastic team. We are delighted to say that we have started off the New Year with a tremendous amount of new enquiries for Servicing existing watering systems, quoting for Annual Service Contracts and New Installations. We look forward to this trend continuing.

The New Year is starting off cold and TCR are still being called in to drain down irrigation systems to minimise any damage caused by freezing weather.

Some clients both new and existing are wanting to beat the “spring rush” and have got our service engineers in carrying out service work, before the rush for start ups from mid March onwards.

TCR’s contracts division have been awarded several contracts for the start of 2018 and our engineers are busy.

Autumn is upon us and TCR are contacting their clients to organise drain downs of their irrigation systems for the winter.

This is recommended to ensure your irrigation system lasts as long as possible. Getting water out of the irrigation system is important. When water freezes it expands and if water is left in your irrigation pipes this can potentially ruin your irrigation system.

It’s that time of year when TCR are busy with the drain downs of their clients’ irrigation systems, to minimize the risk of freeze damage to irrigation system over the winter period.

The water supply to the irrigation system will be shut off and water drained from the main pipes. The systems various components will be left in the best condition for winter.

Steve Haire has joined TCR strengthening their Service Division.

Steve has come from a deputy head greenkeeper background and has considerable experience on irrigation systems up to and including full fairways with multi pump stations and a great variety of control systems.

TCR have invested in a new bespoke CRM software package to ensure that TCR is running at its maximum efficiency. The primary purpose of the software is to streamline all major areas of customer interactions. This means we can manage contacts, set appointments, handle customer service, and numerous other tasks.

The software makes use of a dashboard, analytics and reporting tools to provide TCR with an all-encompassing vantage point of operations.

Our engineers use tablets at their site visits, enabling reports from their visit to be received in the office within minutes of them leaving site. The job cards are then processed and forwarded to customer within two hours.

The biggest benefit of our TCR’s CRM system is that its use leads to a better overall customer experience.

As TCR’s development to become the leading irrigation company in Britain, we have appointed a Contracts Manager, Andy Richardson. Andy brings with him an impressive and well rounded 16 year record in the irrigation industry. Andy responsibilities will include working closely with contractors and clients representatives to ensure design becomes a reality.

TCR are delighted to welcome Stewart Worboys to our team in the South. Stewart is an experienced irrigation engineer and with his enthusiasm for the work and knowledge he will be an asset to the Company.

TCR are delighted to announce that due to the continued growth and development of the company we have now moved into our brand new Head Offices in Tarporley, Cheshire. Yet another exciting phase for TCR.

Due to TCR’s expansion in the South, we have relocated to Chobham, Surrey. This will enable TCR to service irrigation systems in Surrey and the Greater London areas.

TCR have taken delivery of a new John Deere “Gator” Utility vehicle, to add to their fleet of vehicles. The Gator will be an invaluable workhorse for the engineers on the large residential sites. The vehicle has specially designed tyres that do not churn up the turf. It enables them to get around site no matter what the terrain, carrying cargo when necessary. It speeds up processes for the engineers working around site. All necessary tools can be carried with them, without the need to constantly return to their vans, which could be parked quite some distance away, dependant on the size of the site.

TCR are proud to be appointed by a leading landscape company in the SE1 area of London. The system, which is in a high profile location has a storage tank located in the basement of large offices and is pumped using a pressurised system. The automated system is operated by a Rain Bird decoder controller. The system primarily waters flower beds surrounded by box and trees with single line necklaces.

It’s that time of the year when the office staff start the scheduling in of start ups of watering systems, to our works diary. For the start of this season we have pleasure in announcing that twelve new clients have moved their annual service contracts across to TCR Watering, from areas including Weybridge, Virginia Waters, Chobham, Esher and St Georges Hill. We have dedicated service engineers that work out of our Surrey Office, covering these areas and many more.

With our fully manned office and latest technology, clients are emailed within 24 hours of completion of works, with written reports listing any defects and whether we have repaired them. Our engineers will also note on the report, any additional works required, if any.

TCR Watering’s Annual Service Contract holders are given priority on call outs throughout the season, over non contract holders and on critical works we endeavour to attend site within 48 hours from the client calling the office, which gives TCR’s Service Contract holders the confidence to know that their irrigations systems are being well looked after. We pride ourselves in being client lead and all works are carried out by our own competent engineers.

Not only do we offer annual service contracts and servicing, we also offer design and installation services.

Nearly 4 weeks into 2014 and TCR are looking forwards to a busy year.

In the next couple of weeks TCR will be busy contacting clients to arrange the scheduling in of the start ups of their irrigation systems for the summer. We have gained some new Annual Service Contracts over the winter period, which is good news for the company and we hope to build up a great professional/client relationship with our new customers.

Our designers are being kept equally busy with a number of new designs projects currently being worked on.

TCR are pleased to announce that Al Kehoe has recently joined TCR. Al has been in the irrigation industry for twelve years, of which eight have been as a service engineer.

Al has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in Garden Watering Systems ranging from servicing, installation and repair on prestigious properties in both the residential and public sector.

Al is is a welcome and valued addition to the expanding TCR Installation and Servicing teams.

Al will be servicing garden watering systems in the Surrey and Central London areas.

Aftercut, the lawn care brand produced by Westland Horticulture, has won an award for its new packaging.

The UK Packaging Awards, held on November 13, voted the pack the Rigid Plastic Pack of the Year and also shortlisted it for the Best Re-Packaging of a Brand award.

Judges stated that the pack ‘made life just that little bit easier’ for customers who like to look after their lawns and that it was a ‘great pack that delivers on its promise.’
