Garden irrigation to large garden in Chelsea
Over the winter TCR have been installing a new irrigation system that uses rainwater harvesting with mains water back up, to irrigate a garden irrigation system in Chelsea, overlooking the Thames. The system uses a Grundfos variable speed pump and filtration system to irrigate the gardens to the front and rear of the property with a small turf area, using Rain Bird pop up sprinklers and sprays. The flower beds will be watered using dripline and stationed to plant requirements and whether the bed is in shade. In addition some ornate pots that go down the side of a walkway are watered using dripline.
TCR have won a new contract in Oxfordshire for the installation of an irrigation system watering an avenue of two hundred and forty mature specimen trees. The sprinklers of choice will be RainBird 1806’s with pressure regulation and check valves to ensure even watering in the 20 acres site, using in excess of 8,000m of pipe.
TCR are pleased to say that they have been appointed, over strong competition, to install an irrigation system to an apartment block overlooking the River Thames. The system will be fully monitored and will be watering planters on a podium and ornamental trees.
TCR have once again been called in to install a new automatic watering system. The system is to irrigate the front and rear garden of a large town house, using mains water. A tailor made water storage tank is required to fit discreetly in the garden. The system will be watering grass using Rain Bird 1804 and MP Rotators. Drip Lineand Micro Sprinklers to the flowerbeds and necklaces to the new trees. The system will be controlled by a Hunter Controller with weather sensor. The installation should take approximately two weeks.
TCR Watering have been called in to an existing client in the Surrey area. The client has recently had their pool roof garden re-turfed and consequently wants to ensure the best level of watering possible. The existing watering system on the roog, which TCR did not install, was inadequate due to the fact it had been run off borehole water and not the irrigation system. There were not enough sprinklers and the pipework was too small. TCR are installing two new stations that will run off the main irrigation. This will subsequently run a total of sixteen sprinklers. TCR’s sprinklers of choice for this particular installation are Rain Bird 1804 pop ups. Chosen for their reliability and watering uniformity with a throw of 0.3m to 9.1m. The sprinklers will be located around the edges of the turf which will enable the turf to be watered evenly.
TCR have been commissioned to design by a Buckinghamshire landscape company four separate irrigation systems to a housing development. Each of the systems will be independent and run off rain water harvesting with mains back up. The mains water fill complying with local water board regulations. The tanks have been sized for each irrigation system with the optimisation of harvesting. The tank will be of GRP construction and surrounded in concrete. The irrigation system will be watering turf using Rain Bird sprinklers with match precipitation nozzles, giving a uniformed coverage. The flower beds will be watered using micro sprinklers or drip line, depending on the type of planting. Hedgerows will be watered with doubleline Rain Bird drip line and run on stations with hedge water requirements. Trees will be run with double line necklaces encouraging development of the roots to spread outwards and downwards. All four systems will be controlled with a Hunter controller with weather monitoring, which globally increases or decreases the amount of water applied without human intervention.
TCR are delighted to have been instructed by one of London’s leading landscape companies to install a new garden watering system in Maida Vale. The client is completely redesigning the garden, which is South East facing. The substantial system will be using a mains water supply feeding an underground tank. On this occasion the system will be run using a Rain Bird wall mounted controller. The lawn areas will be watered using Rain Bird 1804 pop up sprinklers chosen for durability, reliability and performance For the flower beds we will be using Rain Bird low volume micro sprays, these deliver water slowly in smaller does at or near a plants root zone, where it does the most good. The hedges and trees will be watered using Rain Bird Dripline an inline emitter tubing, this is ideal for intricate areas and is practically invisible on the ground.
A call out with a difference. TCR Watering were called out to a watering system where the pump had failed. On investigation by one of our engineers it was assessed that a new pump was needed. Not only was the watering system irrigating landscape, it was also supplying water to a number of pigs that the client owns. This was classed as somewhat critical as the clients were having to carry heavy buckets from a water point, quite some way from the point where the animals were, to ensure that the pigs were kept with something to drink. This was quite a task for them due to the number of pigs that they had. What made it more of an “emergency was that the client was due to leaving the country for a while within 3 days of reporting the fault. Within 48 hours TCR’s engineers returned to the clients property with the a pump and installed it to the clients satisfaction. Leaving happy clients and even happier pigs!
TCR called in to a pumping system located in Virginia Waters, Surrey, that the client uses for irrigation, lake fill and taps around the garden. It has an iron filtration system which wasn’t working and a faulty irrigation pump. The site has an underground tank with pump mounted on the surface. Upon arriving on site it was ascertained that the mechanical seal had burnt out due to running dry because of a faulty fitting on the suction side of the pump, so we replaced the mechanical seal and installed a low pressure cut out to minimise the risk that this doesn’t happen again. On inspection due to the very high iron content the filtration system had to be cleaned using chemicals. The job was completed to the client’s satisfaction and once again TCR are happy to help. In addition the client is moving home and TCR have been asked to quote for a new irrigation system at the clients new property.
TCR are delighted to have been chosen for the annual service contracts for communal gardens in central London. The larger of the two systems located in one of our leading colleges is supplied mains water to a discrete underground tank. From there a submersible pump controlled by a water cooled variable speed drive and Hunter Irrigation Controller operates Hunter sprinklers on numerous stations. The second and smaller system operates from a communal pump supply and waters a small garden. Within an Annual Service Contract at this time of year, we drain down the automatic watering systems for the winter, ensuring the mains pipe work is drained of water and that the tanks and pumps are prepared for the winter chill. We will return in the spring to start up the watering systems, when we will reconnect electrics to pumps, fill irrigation mains and other works to ensure that the watering systems are fully operational after the winter period. We like to keep our clients informed and for all visits by TCR Watering the client is provided with a written report for any works carried out to their automatic watering system and any faults found.
